at The Renaissance Centre, Tower Street, Ludlow.
morning session 9.30 am to 12.30pm - cost £3
afternoon session 1.30pm to 3.30pm - cost £3

Craft Club Programme 2008

Here is a list of the activities that we will be doing this year at Craft Club.
Please note that the activities may be subject to slight changes during the year!

November
7th-Create an attractive Picture Frame from "waste" materials.
14th-Picture Frames.
21st-Make a Fabulous Funky Christmas Fairy
28th-Completion of your Fabulous Funky Fairy.

December
5th-Create a handy Christmas themed container using greetings cards.
12th-Candle Making.
19-Craft Club Christmas Get Together, Morning and Afternoon groups together.

Carpentry Workshop 10 week Training Programme

This programme outline is intended as a guide only and will depend upon an individuals rate of progress through each stage.

Week 1 Administration
Introduction to the workshop and staff
Health and safety briefing
Use of a plan to construct a bird or bat box from recycled wood.

Skills Training in...
Hand tools, Power drill, Table saw, Chop saw
Health and safety instructions
Instruction on use of any tools and safety equipment .

Week 2 Animal Plaque ( e.g. DOG/HEDGEHOG)
Make and animal wall plaque
Use of a planer /thicknesser to reduce thickness of timber
Mark and cut out plaque
Use of water based dye to colour
Finish item using white polish.

Skill Training in...
Band saw, Thicknesser, Use of water based dye, Finishing with white polish,
Health and safety instructions,
Demonstration before use of any new tools
Use of protective equipment
What to do in case of spillage of fluids on skin /eyes.

Week 3 Completion of Animal Plaque
•  Finish item by making suitable hooks using recycled forks and spoons
•  Wire wool plaque
•  Finish with second coat of polish
•  Wax

Skills Training in...
Bending forks using hammer and heat, Finishing an item to a suitable standard for sale
Health and Safety Instruction
Use of protective equipment.

Week 4 Repair of a donated chair
May involve re gluing, stripping re polishing and making any missing parts
Simple upholstery may also be required

Use of paint stripper wire wool glues and finishes
What to do in the case of spillages on skin or eyes.

Week 5 Completion of chair project
Use of router
Joining timber using a biscuit joiner

Demonstration of use of new tools and protective equipment

Week 6-10

Developing skills further by restoring donated furniture to a standard suitable
 
 
 

Booking Procedure
It is essential that places are booked on the courses in advance as failure to book could cause disappointment. Although courses are free, we do charge a refundable deposit on some workshops to ensure that those booked on to courses actually turn up!
